Recipe Tips & Variations
➡️ Bake in the oven instead - No air fryer? Roast the sweet potatoes on a lined baking sheet at 425°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until tender and caramelized at the edges.
➡️ Leave the skins on - For extra fiber and a more rustic texture, skip peeling. Just scrub well and dice. The skins crisp up beautifully.
➡️ Cut evenly and don't overcrowd the basket - Uniform ½-1 inch cubes help the potatoes cook evenly and prevent some pieces from burning while others are underdone. For the best crispy texture, arrange in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed.
How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes

Step 1: In a large bowl, toss the diced and peeled sweet potatoes with olive oil and seasonings until evenly coated.

- Step 3: Arrange the potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, placing them on the crisper plate if available. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until tender and lightly crisped.
Recipe FAQs
Most air fryers work best at 400°F for roasting sweet potatoes. This high heat helps create crispy edges while keeping the centers tender.
Overcrowding is the most common reason. Make sure they're arranged in a single layer with space between pieces. Cooking in batches helps achieve better caramelization.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350-375°F for 3-5 minutes to bring back crispiness.
