Select Ingredients

- Chicken Breasts - I recommend using lean boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe. It ends up being plenty moist with the peppers, onions, and chicken broth!
- Hoagies - Whole grain hoagies are great for this recipe but use whatever bun option you'd like.
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Recipe Tips & Variations
➡️ Switch Up the Bell Peppers - Any color bell pepper works great here! You can use green, red, yellow, or orange. Red and yellow peppers add a touch of sweetness, while green peppers give a more classic Philly taste. Use what you have on hand or mix a few colors for extra flavor and color.
➡️ Make It Lower Carb - Skip the hoagie roll and enjoy the chicken Philly filling on its own or over a bed of lettuce. It's just as satisfying and keeps things lighter. You can also serve it in low-carb wraps or over cauliflower rice.
➡️ Add Mushrooms or Other Veggies - Sliced mushrooms are a popular Philly addition and cook down nicely in the crockpot. You can also add a handful of spinach at the end for extra veggies.
