Select Ingredients

Peanut Butter Cup ingredients: dark chocolate melting wafers, banana, powdered peanut butter, coarse sea salt
  • Dark Chocolate - you can use any chocolate you'd like in this recipe. I prefer a dark chocolate bar or melting wafers but you can use semi-sweet or milk chocolate as well.
  • Powdered Peanut Butter - I love using powdered peanut butter and mixing with water as it keeps the calories and fat content much lower than traditional peanut butter. You can use regular peanut butter or an alternative nut butter if you prefer.
  • Salt - coarse sea salt works great in this recipe.

Recipe Tips & Variations

➡️ Microwave chocolate carefully: Heat in 20-30 second intervals, stirring in between, to prevent burning and achieve a smooth texture.

➡️ Swap nut butters - You can swap for an almond butter or regular peanut butter in this recipe as well! The powdered peanut butter will keep the calories and fat content lower, so keep that in mind if you do swap.

➡️ Make them mini - Use a mini muffin pan for bite-sized treats perfect for snacking or lunchboxes.

How to Make Healthy Peanut Butter Cups

Recipe FAQs

Can I make these peanut butter cups vegan?

Yes! Use dairy-free chocolate and plant-based powdered peanut butter or nut butter to keep them completely vegan.

Can I use regular peanut butter instead of powdered peanut butter?

Absolutely! Use creamy peanut butter and skip the added water that you use with the powdered peanut butter. The filling will be richer and creamier. Keep in mind this will change the nutrition facts and make them higher calorie.

Can I use other fruits for the filling instead of banana?

Yes! Thin slices of strawberries or other fruits can be layered for a delicious treat!

Notes

Nutrition Disclaimer: Nutrition facts are estimates and may vary by ingredients, brands, and portion sizes. Use them as a general guide, not a guarantee.
Storage: These peanut butter cups can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5–7 days for a soft, ready-to-eat texture. For a firmer, more classic peanut butter cup consistency, store in the freezer for 30–45 minutes before serving.
Ingredient swaps: Feel free to use your favorite chocolate (dark, milk, or semi-sweet) and swap PB2 for regular peanut butter if you prefer a richer filling. Adjust quantities slightly if using creamy peanut butter to maintain the right consistency. Keep in mind swapping ingredients will change nutrition facts.
